UNESCO FUNDING 
AFASSA is proud to announce that its application for funding through the UNESCO Regional Participation Programme 2010-2011 has been successful and that UNESCO has allocated to AFASSA $ 15,000 for Fellowships and $ 20,000 for the organization of a Symposium/Conference. Since the funding is from the Regional Participation Programme, Fellowships offered under this Programme should involve an Asian institution or Asian young scientists.
INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM 
The IFS-AFASSA International Symposium on "Natural Products and their Applications in Health and Agriculture" will be held in Kandy, Sri Lanka in collaboration with the Institute of Fundamental Studies, Kandy during October 3-8, 2011. Papers are invited from natural products chemists working in the South. AFASSA plans to provide support to encourage young scientists who wish to make a presentation at the Symposium. Interested participants should send in their abstracts to the Symposium Secretariat before June 30, 2011 and apply for Early Bird Registration before July 15, 2011 through the Symposium website. They should also make a request for funding with an estimate of costs to Chairman, AFASSA at vkumar@pdn.ac.lk.
