UNESCO Funding for Fellowships
AFASSA is proud to announce that its application for funding through the UNESCO Regional Participation Programme 2010-2011 has been successful and that UNESCO has allocated $ 15,000 for Fellowships. Since the funding is from the Regional Participation Programme, Fellowships offered under this Programme should involve an Asian institution or an Asian young scientist. Since the funds are available only until the end of 2011, proposals are URGENTLY invited from young scientists working in the South who feel they could profit from carrying out research in another laboratory situated in another continent in the South where similar work is carried out. Young scientists wishing to apply are requested to fill in the Application form for Fellowships available in this website and also indicate their interest as soon as possible to Chairman, AFASSA at vkumar@pdn.ac.lk
AFASSA Fellowship Guidelines
Applications from Network members in the prescribed form is to be submitted to the Coordinator/Chairman of the respective Network preferably as email attachment. The Network Coordinator/Chairman will send the selected application to the Chairman of AFASSA with supporting letters regarding:
i) the suitability of the candidate
ii) the probable acceptance of the candidate by the host laboratory and
iii) the financial arrangements including the airfare. The Chairman of AFASSA will then formally contact the sending & host laboratories and finalize the Fellowship programme. The candidate will be informed accordingly. The generally accepted principle of the AFASSA Fellowship is that the sending institution/research group will bear the airfare and the host institution/research group will bear the local expenses e.g. accommodation and food.
